Request for Proposal – professional development day to be held 10/18/2019

The Central Arkansas Chapter of Project Management Institute (PMI) will host a Professional Development Day (PDD) event in Little Rock, Arkansas on Friday, October 18, 2019. We are seeking proposals from potential keynote speakers for this event. If you are interested in being considered by our planning committee, please see the information below and submit your proposal to profdevelopment@pmiarkansas.org by April 15, 2019. ABOUT PDD

Our priorities and preliminary plans for PDD are summarized below. Please use this information to prepare a proposal for our committee to consider. You may include both a full-day and/or partial-day proposal. We are happy to answer any questions and to speak with you by phone, as needed.

Vision

Our vision is to appeal to seasoned project managers, business analysts, human resources, functional managers, entrepreneurs, and other business professionals in Central Arkansas in a format conducive to knowledge sharing and networking. The PDD event should inspire participants, leaving them empowered with relevant, advanced and opportune knowledge and equipped with take-away tools. The PDD event should facilitate active participation, learning, friendliness and networking. Our aim is to receive positive feedback that indicates the event offered real value to participants.

Focus

Our professional development initiatives focus on helping Members develop all sides of PMI’s Talent Triangle (i.e., Technical Project Management, Strategic and Business Management, and Leadership). PDD in particular offers a moment in time when we can provide resources to address all areas of learning. Venue

PDD will be held Friday, October 18, 2019 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Central time at Southwest Power Pool (SPP). Check-in and breakfast will begin at 7:30 am. Lunch and afternoon refreshments will be served. SPP is located at 201 Worthen Drive, Little Rock, AR 72223. Roughly 100 people typically attend the event.

PROPOSAL PRIORITIES

Your proposal should align with our PDD vision and focus and include the following:

  • Outline – Show, in outline format, how your session will be organized. Identify each topic/subject area and how that information will be conveyed (e.g., lecture, participant discussion, interactive exercise/role play, video clips).
  • Learning Objectives – List approximately three achievable learning objectives, written from the participant’s point of view. The learning objectives should describe the information, skills, behaviors, or perspectives participants will acquire; as well as identify the outcomes or actions participants can expect to demonstrate. Use action verbs (e.g., Explain, Demonstrate, Analyze, Formulate, Discuss, Compare, Differentiate, Describe, Name, Assess, Evaluate, Identify, Design, Define, List).
  • Descriptive Summary – Describe your session and the topics you will cover using up to approximately 250 words. This description will be included in marketing materials and the event program. It is important that this description reflect the content of the session.
  • Bio – Describe yourself in a way that conveys your credibility and authenticity using no more than approximately 75 words. This description will be included in marketing materials and the event program.
  • Time Estimate – Indicate how much time you will need to complete your session. If applicable, include variations in how you could divide the session into chunks throughout the day, etc. We are open to creative suggestions.
  • Cost – Indicate your fees.
