"Leadership Skills for Project Managers"
An Onsite Workshop with Dr. James Brown, Ph.D.
The PMI Central Arkansas Chapter is pleased to bring to the project management community our annual Professional Development Day. The event will be held in the St. Andrews Ballroom of the Chenal Country Club of Little Rock, Arkansas on Tuesday, September 24. Event check-in will begin at 7:30am to 8am. The event will be held from 8am to 4pm, with a one hour break for lunch.
This one-day course, conducted by guest speaker Dr. James T. Brown, Ph.D., provides participants with leadership skills to successfully navigate all the challenges in a demanding project environment, including information on team building, communication, human behavior, and leadership. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Holders of a Project Management Institute professional certification will earn 7 PDUs in Category A for this event.

After completion of this course the participant will be able to:
- Identify the traits of successful leaders and emulate the characteristics of successful leaders
- Build a strong team
- Establish consensus
- Recognize the importance of being an observer and learner of human behavior

- Appreciate what motivates different individuals within project teams

About Dr. James T. Brown, Ph.D.
James T. Brown Ph.D., President of SEBA® Solutions Inc., a Registered Education Provider for the Project Management Institute, has provided project management training for dozens of companies nationally and internationally. His sixteen years at NASA includes "hands on" experience as a team member, project manager and serving in executive level organizational leadership roles.
He has served as a subject matter expert for a leading project software vendor and is the author of The Handbook of Program Management published by McGraw-Hill. He also provides online project management training and has been published in numerous project management publications including PM Network, PE Magazine, PMI Community Post, Projects@Work, The Systems Thinker and PM World Today.
Dr. Brown has a patent for a project scheduling methodology, and has received numerous awards including "Engineer of the Year" from the Cape Canaveral Technical Societies and is a recipient of the "NASA Public Service Medal" for exceptional contributions to NASA's mission.
As a recognized authority in project management, he is a frequently invited keynote speaker on project management and leadership. He is a member of the Project Management Institute and the National Speakers Association. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Florida's Technological Research and Development Authority.
James has a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Central Florida, a MS in Engineering Management from Florida Institute of Technology and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Speaking Professional (CSP).
